Testosterone Deficiency Symptom Checker

Our assessment for low testosterone combines two validated screening tools used widely in andrology: the 17-item Aging Males’ Symptoms (AMS) scale and the 10-item ADAM questionnaire. Together they take around three minutes to work through with your doctor.

The ADAM Questionnaire

The Androgen Deficiency in Aging Males (ADAM) questionnaire asks ten yes/no questions covering symptoms such as reduced libido, low energy, loss of strength and low mood.

  • A positive screen is a "yes" answer to question 1 (decreased libido) or question 7 (deterioration in sporting ability).
  • A positive screen is also recorded for a "yes" answer to any three or more of the ten questions overall.

The AMS Scale

The Aging Males’ Symptoms scale asks you to rate seventeen symptoms — spanning psychological, somatic and sexual domains — by how severe they have been over the last few weeks.

  • Each item is scored from 1 (none) to 5 (extremely severe).
  • The combined score builds a picture of how testosterone decline may be affecting psychological wellbeing, physical symptoms and sexual function.

What Your Results Mean

These questionnaires are a screening starting point, not a diagnosis.

  • A positive ADAM screen, or an AMS picture in the moderate-to-severe range, suggests a comprehensive hormone assessment is worthwhile.
  • Blood tests, a full medical history and clinician review are essential before any decision on testosterone replacement therapy.
